Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 June 2026.

Yatta (“we”, “us”) runs www.yattajlpt.com, a free resource for studying for the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test. This policy explains, in plain terms, what information the site handles, how cookies and advertising work, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it short and honest.

The short version

Information we collect

Information you give us: only what you choose to send — for example, if you email us a correction or question via the contact page, we receive your email address and message so we can reply.

Information collected automatically: like most websites, our hosting and analytics may record standard technical data such as your approximate region, browser and device type, the pages you visit, and referring links. This is used in aggregate to keep the site working and to understand what's useful.

What stays on your device: when you take a mock test, the answers and the resulting weakness diagnosis are processed locally in your browser. We do not require a login and do not save your test answers to our servers.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We and our partners use them to remember preferences, measure how the site performs, and (where ads are shown) to support advertising. You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings; the guides and practice questions will still work without them.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We may display ads served by third-party networks, including Google AdSense. To do this:

Ad networks operate under their own privacy policies. We don't control the cookies they set or the data they collect.

Analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are useful and how the site performs. This may set cookies or collect anonymised usage data such as the pages visited and approximate region. We use it to improve content — not to identify you personally.

Children's privacy

This site is a general-audience study resource and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices and rights

You can block or delete cookies, opt out of personalised ads (see above), and contact us to ask what data we hold or to request deletion of anything you've sent us. Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU GDPR or California's CCPA), you may have additional rights over your personal data; we'll honour valid requests.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves or as requirements change. We'll revise the “last updated” date above when we do.
